Police Boys Junior Football Club

Police Boys Junior Football club was established in 1955 and is a founding member of the Traralgon & District Junior Football League. In its inaugural season, Police Boys’ under 16s won the premiership and the club has enjoyed several eras of success throughout the years.

The club will be celebrating its 70 year milestone next year in 2025. The club owes its start to George Bryden who came to Traralgon as a young Policeman in the early 1950s, his vision was to keep local children out of trouble through Aussie Rules. George stayed involved with the Club and the boys for 45 years. George always had the full support of his family and co-helper, Geoff Marsh. Geoff was assistant coach to George for a number of years, also remaining with the club and having some of his sons play for the club.

Another stalwart of the club is life member Bill Bishop, a leading contributor to the club’s proud past. Bishop coached Police Boys under 10 sides for 25 consecutive years between 1979 (the age group’s first season at the club) and 2003, winning about six flags through his tenure.

We have a strong family connection and tradition at the club with many past players returning to the club with their children now playing, and actively coaching and performing roles on our committee. Our current President is the great-granddaughter and granddaughter of Life Members Frank & Jim Brand.
